I want you to think of two guys.

The first guy I want you to think about, is the one that didn’t deserve that second chance, but you gave it to him anyway.
The one who knew the exact words to say, in order for you to stay just a bit longer so that he could flip your world upside down.
He gave you promises he didn’t intend to keep,
while he was oblivious as to how deep of a hole he was digging in your heart.
He is the reason why you had so many saved text messages of unspoken words that you were too scared to send.
The reason why you cried so many nights, why you forced yourself to smile so that everyone would think you’re alright,
but really, you would grip your chest so tight
because the pain would beat to the sad love songs that always seemed to apply to the hurt you felt inside.
And no matter how hard you tried, the pain wouldn’t subside, and so that’s why you have a shield up so high.
In place of honesty, he gave you a lie.
In place of care, he made you wonder why
He only cared for what was in between your thighs, rather than what was on your mind.
And what sucks the most, is that in place of an “I love you”, he gave you a “goodbye.”

He was a fool for hurting you.
But there is still hope.

Now, think about that nice guy that always finished last.
That guy whom you’ve always passed,
but was never given the chance to show you that you are much more than you give yourself credit for.
And so, I speak the mind of that gentleman.
These are the words he was too respectful to say:

I wish I could be your man instead.
I wish every single morning you knew that you’re always the first thing I think about every time I wake up.
I hope you know that I think you are the most beautiful woman, despite what you may see in that mirror,
I hope you know I’ll do anything to make your blurry world clearer,
And I hope you achieve everything you want and more.
I hope you know that I’m nothing like those other guys before.
I hope you know I only wish you all the happiness in this world.
And I hope that you include me somewhere in that successful future I know you deserve.
As cliche as it may sound, I can’t imagine life without you around.
And I swear that each tear that falls from your eyes will be wiped away and covered with the warmth of my heart.
So what will it take for you to notice me?
For you to see that I would love you faithfully?
For you to know that when you’re feeling stuck,
I could flip your life right side up.
Because if you just believe, if you give me a chance,
I’ll make sure to give you more than just a summer romance.
In fact, I’ll give you a love story every single season for the rest of my life.
You say you want a good guy to notice you.
Then, why don’t YOU open your eyes?
